Inverters with generator transfer switch

These generator transfer inverters or combination power inverters are designed to work with generators or with your Eskom electricity supply. These power inverters are continuously rated and can thus be used all the time!!

A farm would typically run a generator during the day while the battery charger charges the batteries, ready for the generator to switch over

The typical application would be, a farmer who operates a generator during the day…because he needs to run machinery for the farm and washing machine……during this time, a big battery charger (external or internal to inverter) would charge up a battery bank full of batteries. At a preset time…say with sun set the generator will be switched off to get some quiet time, As the generator switches off, the power inverter will startup and take over as the main energy supply.

Some units are fitted with intelligent connections, which control and switch the generator on/off and some are fitted with internal battery chargers.

In the town…where, power these days is not so reliable, these units can be used very effectivly as a “backup power source!! Power inverter ratings is continuous.in contrast with a UPS which is designed to give 10Min operating periods. We do a range up to 5kVA 12V and 24V battery bank application range.

Both modified sine wave and true sine power inverters have derivatives that include a generator transfer switch. Some are specifically designed to operate with a generator or interruptive power source. In other words, these power inverters are ideal where other means for charging the batteries is available from either solar panels or external battery chargers.
It will thus act like a UPS or just back-up power.

Combination power inverters have built in battery chargers and transfer switches, which makes them an affordable solution for your “uninterrupted power requirements”, or to provide emergency back up for power failures or limited power availability.

The big benefit of these units over proper UPS systems, is that you can size your own battery pack to it, thus providing you with as many hours of back up as you need.

These inverters also have 3 times power overload surge ability which is absent from most online UPS systems. These Inverters with generator transfer switch are relatively compact units, as the charger is built in, and in some cases, a choice of different amperage ratings on the charger is offered, allowing a more tailor made package to suit individual needs and requirements.
